second term school project

Using recycled materials we had to create and make 3 broaches. One broach out of metal, one out of paper and one out of plastic. It had to communicate your inspiration, but may not have been a direct demonstration of it. My inspiration was bees. the first broach (paper) shows how flowers are the beginning of honey (something important to man). the flowers pedals are keys because it expresses the hidden message behind this broach: to unlock something's true potential you have to look further than just the looks. the second broach (metal) represents the bee hive. It has to be strong and protect the queen bee. the 2 flowers in the middle represent and the queen and the wire the bee hive and its strength. my third and final broach represents one of honey bees' jobs in nature, to pollinate. They are the reason for the beautiful, colourful flower fields. the beads represent the flowers, the yellow paint the honey and it's in a green plastic spoon which can represent 2 things: the green grass field and how you sometimes eat honey with a spoon directly out of the jar. nature plays an important role in our everyday lives.
Through these designs I hope to let people see how important something as tiny as a bee can be to man kind and how we should appreciate what we have more.

  1. I love the fact that your designs are aesthetic as well as functional! They are pretty to wear but also convey an important message. The colours and the symbols you chose supports the message successfully.
